yOUTH vAPING PREVENTION

The Iron County Health Coalition and St. Francois County Community Partnership have both been awarded mini-grants through the Missouri Division of Behavioral Health to address youth vaping in their communities! Each coalition will design a series of postcards and mail them to parents of students in the school districts. The project also includes radio, newspaper, and social media advertising as well as informational packets for teachers. The aim to increase awareness of the harms of youth electronic cigarette use and encourage parents to talk to their kids about vaping.

yOUTH mARIJUANA pREVENTION

The Healthy Dent County Prevention Coalition and the Phelps County Child Advocacy Network have been awarded a mini-grant through the Missouri Division of Behavioral Health to address youth marijuana use in their communities. The aim to increase awareness of the harms of youth marijuana use and encourage parents to talk to their kids about marijuana.

Illicit Drug use prevention on campus

The Missouri S&T Prevention Coalition has been awarded a mini-grant through the Missouri Division of Behavioral Health to reduce illicit drug use among Missouri S&T Students. This will include adding a permanent drug disposal box on campus and increasing awareness of resources available to students.

dRUG fREE cOMMUNITIES-pccan

The Phelps County Child Advocacy Network has been awarded a 5 year Drug Free Communities Grant through the Centers for Disease Control. The grant includes funding to address youth alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana use through community change. The grant also included an opportunity to decrease youth opioid overdoses through the CARA grant.

dENT cOUNTY mEGA gRANT

The Healthy Dent County Prevention Coalition was awarded a 2 year mega grant through the Missouri Division of Behavioral Health. Their project will increase evidence-based substance use prevention curriculum in Dent County Schools as well as increase the capacity of the coalition to implement change.

iRON cOUNTY mEGA gRANT

The Iron County Health Coalition was awared a mega grant through the Missouri Division of Behavioral Health. Their poject will focus on strengthening the family bond in families with children aged 10-14, increase vendor education for alcohol and nicotine merchants, and increase the capacity of the coalition to implement community change.
