JAMIE MYERS, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, MACSAPP – Executive Director

Jamie Myers has been the Executive Director of Prevention Consultants of Missouri since its inception in 1993. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Advanced Certified Substance Abuse Prevention Professional. He has been working in the field since 1987.

Although Jamie has worked in mental health and substance abuse treatment programs both as a therapist and administrator, his primary calling for many years has been developing and implementing prevention and intervention programs for kids, families, and communities.

The community-based, prevention initiatives Jamie has developed or implemented include mediation training, mentoring with at risk youth, targeted neighborhood prevention programs, parent education and anger management services, drug-free coalition development, peer teaching and helping programs, home visiting services, bully prevention in schools, suicide prevention training, and counseling with kids and parents.

Applying what is learned from the most current prevention research, to the implementation of effective practice, is the driving force behind Jamie’s work.

Jamie and his wife are the proud parents of three children.

SHANA STEPHENSON – Prevention Technician

Shana Stephenson works with community substance abuse prevention teams and as coordinator of the Teen Outreach Program. She has been working in the field since 2001.

Shana most enjoys coordinating and facilitating trainings for the community prevention teams. She is also a board member of the Missouri Youth Adult Alliance.

Shana has two sons. Her part-time hours allow her the flexibility to volunteer with the local public school system, where her children attend.

Prior to beginning her employment with Prevention Consultants of Missouri, Shana was a Certified Child Birth Educator, and taught classes at an area hospital for two years.

MARY BETH MYERS, Ph.D., MACSAPP – Coordinator of Education & Training and Prevention Specialist

Mary Beth Myers is the Coordinator of Education and Training at Prevention Consultants of Missouri. She received a doctoral degree from the California School of Professional Psychology. Her research in the area of women and self-esteem and women and victimology has been published in professional and educational journals as well as in popular literature. She has been working in the field since 1978.

Dr. Myers has many years of teaching experience in the social sciences as well as providing professional development workshops and training. She specializes in communication, self-esteem, parenting, children’s issues, suicide prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, and the psychology of women. She is available to do multiple workshops and training for agencies, schools, businesses, churches, and other organizations.

In addition to her work at Prevention Consultants of Missouri, Mary Beth is an instructor at Drury University. She is the mother of two children.

WENDY CARTER, M.A., LPC – Counselor & Anger Management Trainer

Wendy Carter is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional in Missouri. She has been working in the field since 2003. Wendy provides individually tailored counseling for individuals and couples and also conducts Anger Management training through a multi-session, individualized program. Wendy and her husband of over 37 years have three grown children.

BETH MANION-STACY, M.A., LPC – Counselor

Beth Stacy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and provides counseling for school-age kids and their parents.

RACHAEL KARR, B.S., MSAPA – Mentoring Coordinator and Prevention Specialist

Rachael joined Prevention Consultants of Missouri in June of 2010.  She coordinates the Mentoring Makes a Difference Program that matches at-risk students with caring adult mentors. Rachael is certified as a Missouri Substance Abuse Prevention Associate. She graduated from the University of Central Missouri  in the fall of 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.  Rachael is married and enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
